abstract :
kaolin clay was mixed with ball-milled from waste glass bottles in an attempt to develop useful ceramics. Samples containing 20% glass and with and witout alumina addition to modify glass properties were slip cast into crusible forms to asses castability as well as sintering behaviour. Cas samples were fired to temperature as high as1200 C for densification. Microstructure and crystal structures of fired samples were examined by SEm, optical microscopy, and x-ray difaraction. Additionally, transverse bend tests were ferformed to assess emchanicak bwhaviour. The results were compared against typical traditional ceramics
